Mission
The mission of the Valley Women's Center is to provide counseling,
education, support and referral services for women and their
family members at risk for alcohol, drugs and other threats
to family stability.
We provide a wide range of services and programs. We have
ongoing support groups such as Women in Sobriety, Relapse
Prevention Group, Parenting Classes and Teen Girls Support
Group.
Addiction is a physiological issue, not a moral issue.
There is no longer any doubt among researchers that there
is a genetic predisposition to addiction. Children of alcoholics
have a 50-to-80% greater chance of becoming alcoholics themselves.
The American Medical Association recognizes alcoholism
as a chronic, progressive disease involving physical and
psychological symptoms which, if left untreated, will cause
permanent mental impairment, physical incapacities and eventual
death.
